Different bell housing, different overall length, different transmission computer. You are better off rebuilding the one you have as it will save you both time and money in the long run.

2000 Sahara, 3.5" Rubicon Express Lift, 1" spring spacer & 1" Body Lift, 33" or 35" BFG Mud tires, Front & Rear ARB, Rancho 9000 shocks, UCF Ultra High Belly Up, Savvy gas tank skid.

I have to disagree. From what I have read on some other forums it is quite a good swap . neither automatic that came in a Wrangler holds up very well . The AW4 has been swapped in by many . If the whole XJ is avaiable it makes it easier . Their are complete write ups on this because the AW4 is so reliable . I will see if I can locate it for you but I have read a coouple how to's . I personally feel its well worth the work . heres one for now AW-4 Transmission Swap - 1

It's not a bad swap at all, many Jeepers have installed them into their TJs. Read up on the AW4 swap on Stu's website via the link that Gary2 provided above. A few holes have to be drilled & you have to figure out the wiring but many non-genius Jeep owners have installed them.
When you have a choice, buy American.

thanks guys,

if all is well (were not sure if the tranny in the xj got smashed yet), ill probably do it

ive done some poking around about this and ive heard that itll throw a CEL cuz the TJ computer cant lock the torque converter

is there a way to bypass that!? like some how in the wiring for the 4speed harness

cuz CEL really bother me
