I have to disagree. From what I have read on some other forums it is quite a good swap . neither automatic that came in a Wrangler holds up very well . The AW4 has been swapped in by many . If the whole XJ is avaiable it makes it easier . Their are complete write ups on this because the AW4 is so reliable . I will see if I can locate it for you but I have read a coouple how to's . I personally feel its well worth the work . heres one for now AW-4 Transmission Swap - 1 http://www.thebassetts.us/Jeep/AW4/A...s/page0001.htm

It's not a bad swap at all, many Jeepers have installed them into their TJs. Read up on the AW4 swap on Stu's website via the link that Gary2 provided above. A few holes have to be drilled & you have to figure out the wiring but many non-genius Jeep owners have installed them.
