auto to manual swap

have a 2000 whats everything i would need to do an auto to manual swap.

why?, trans, wiring junk for the neutral safety and back up lights, bell housing, Drive shaft, a bad ass shifter knob.

I went the other way, 5-speed to an automatic, for better offroad abilities. Why would you want to go from a manual to a 5-speed? For really tough trails, that would be a step backwards. Even the competitors have mostly all converted to automatics by now. Better crawl speeds and 2-3X more low-end torque from an auto.

If I was buying a sportscar like a Porsche, I'd definitely choose a manual tranny but not for a Jeep that sees anything more difficult than an easy fire road.
When you have a choice, buy American.

I'm with Jerry, I have a manual. and for offroading its gonna make things more challenging.

Yeah... Go wheeling once with a manual and you'll be dying to get that auto back! You seriously need like 3 legs and 4 arms. And once you get to the top of the trail, you feel like you ran a marathon.

Going from Auto to Manual is definitely different than most do. Mine is the 5spd and I like it but if I was going to do serious off roading I would want the auto. Especially if you want to do any rock crawler you will really regret the change over.
