Automatic tranny problems??

Transmission is slipping on my 2004 jeep unlimited going up any slight incline. Once I level out it shifts fine. Fluid level is fine. Any Ideas? I talked with a mechanic, he thought the filter may need to be changed. Can anyone give me any ideas. Thanks.

Moved your thread to the proper section of the board.

So it cavitates going up anything up hill? That tranny is notorious for cavitation, but usually only if you get into it real hard and then head up hil. When you checked the fluid did it look brownish or smell burnt at all?

I purchased the jeep in Aug of 2008. I noticed it cavitating a little coming in my driveway at home. I checked the oil at that time and everything looked and smelled fine. I went ahead and took it to a Jeep dealer and had the fluid changed and it still does the same thing. Othewise it shifts great on flat surfaces. By the way I am new to this forum so any help would be appreciated.
