Axle shaft seal questions

My driver side front axle shaft is leaking, and I am getting ready to replace the seals on both sides.

My first question is what's the best seal to replace it with, factory or is there a more heavy duty one I could buy. I have been researching a bit, and found this one on quadratec Original Replacement Parts 8121781 - Inner Axle Oil Seal for 72-06 Jeep® CJ, Wrangler YJ & Cherokee XJ with Dana 30 Front Axle - Quadratec is that what I need, or is there better? It fits both passenger and driver side, and I'm going to replace both at the same time since its only 5 bucks and you have to take the shaft out anyways...

My next question is about outer axle shaft seals. Is it worth the 75 or so dollars to add these when I replace the inner seals? Just not sure if they actually work or if the factory guard on there is good enough. These are what I have found and am considering purchasing, but would like to know any first hand experience with them. I can comment on #2. I installed the alloy usa seals because we have a lot of mud and crap up here and the factory seals do nothing more than keep out large rocks and sticks, there just plastic discs. I pulled my driverside shaft one day and the tube was filled with mud and crap. I cleaned out the tubes on both sides and put in a set of the tube seals and went about normal business for a couple months. I recently pulled the same shaft to change a u-joint and the inside of the tube was spotless. They definitely work, and are good if you live in a muddy, wet place like me. If you live in the desert you probably could spend the money elsewhere but they were definitely worth it for me, I found them on ebay for $50 instead of the $70 Quadratec wanted look around you can get them pretty cheap.

Anyone who can legally own a firearm can carry it concealed in Vermont with no permit/license

Thanks for that info. Colorado has lots of mud and dirt roads, so I think its a good investment for me. How hard is it to pull the shafts and replace the seals? I have been reading write ups, and it doesn't seem all that hard, but I'm very nervous about messing with the diff's, cause I'm new to most of this.

D-30 Axle Shaft Seal Replacement - 1

Pulling the axle shafts is easy. Pull the brakes off, remove the bolts that hold the unit-bearing hubs to the knuckles and then pull the shafts out.

When you have a choice, buy American.
