Ball joint question

Would a bad ball joint cause the driver side tire to vibrate at 55 to 60 than it seems to stop? Its not DW it just 1 tire. I have been told shocks, bad tire, ball joints. Just want some ideas before i dive in to it. Thanks.. 97 4.0 stock wrangler

Check the balance first.

I would rotate that tire to the rear and see if the vibration is the same. While there, check the front end for any obvious issues / worn parts.

I have looked and found that the sway bar has come off, but its been off for several months now. Didnt see any reason to put it back. It just started about a couple of weeks ago. I dont do any off roading or hauling azz just day to day driving. Would that have anything to do with the vibration? Flame suit on lol

I ran stock with 31's with one side of the sway bar bracket broke for about 3-4 yrs. It's not safe but I'm like you I'm not flying down the road. I never had a problem with DW.

Sounds like your tires just out of wack and needs to be rebalanced.

Switch front to back like stated above and see if that fixes it.

Hmmm... how do you know it's only driver side tire vibrating at 55-60 or is it the whole front end??

To check for bad Ball Joint, jack the front off the ground and grap the tire at the top & bottom and rock back & forth, watching the Ball Joint for any excessive play. If that looks ok, then I would check your axle u-joints for the front, physically out your hands on them and try to move to see if play in them. After that I would then check your front & rear driveshaft U-joints. Sometime with these it's best to get the weight of vehicle off the ground to check for play.

I had a bad rear DS u-joint and took a about a week or two to track down, since the weight of the vehicle was actually holding the broken u-joint together and over looked it a couple times, until finally lifted the back off the ground and saw where it was cracked.

Try looking at those few things and let us know what you find.

Thanks for the replies, snwchriss, its kinda of hard to explain but while i am driving i can see the diffrence from the left side of the hood to the right. Also i checked the tires last night and noticed that there are several bald patches on the driver side tire. It looks weird its like it skip from tread to bald spot. I checked the ball joins and there is zero play in them. Hopefully its just were i had studded snow tires and never changed them until 2 months in to spring and i put them back on last month. There are several studds missing on that tire so i belive that is it.

Next then I would check the balance then of the tire or have it rebalanced.
