I don't know if anyone has built a 4.0 proof header that actually does anything special, but I'm open to new info for sure. When I get all my other stuff completely sorted out I'll be making a trip down to the exhaust shop to get a magnaflow put in with custom bends to keep everything up and clear after my flat tuck.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
I've heard upgrading your motor mounts helps with cracked exhaust manifolds, less engine movement causes less stress on the manifold.

I ordered the MORE torsion rubber motor mounts, should be here on Monday. I thought about going with their urethane ones but I don't want to feel all the engine vibes. My engine moves significantly, especially when I start accelerating from a stop, the whole Jeep rocks from the engine moving. That kind of movement can't be good for the exhaust manifold.

I've got the banks monster exhaust - I like the sound of it. At first I wasn't sure, but I've really grown to like it. I'm pretty happy with the product. It has rusted pretty quickly but with the amount of salt the city of Chicago - it's not a huge shocker.

is there an exhaust for a wrangler that is made of something like aluminum that wont rust? I'm not looking for sound or performance increase, just something that doesn't turn orange with surface rust after a few months.

Don't know but it happens to the banks monster exhaust system but it's not horrible looking. I've got the black tip exhaust cap so it looks pretty good even with the rust. But it doesn't keep that nice shiny metal look for long at least where salt is used on the streets.

rust is the corrosion of iron. aluminum doesn't rust because it doesn't contain iron. but aluminum does corrode, and it actually does so a little faster than iron....so making an exhaust of out aluminum wouldn't work if you think your steel version looks like crap now.

try stainless steel, it's pricey but if you get a good grade, it won't turn orange as quickly.

I stand corrected. I don't know the science behind it. It is not rust but looks rusty.

Had banks monster exhausts on both my 99 and my 04 TJs best exhaust I've ever owned, pair it up with the banks ram air intake and header and you'll be beyond happy with the set up!

The only thing on the Banks catback that is 409SS is the muffler and tip itself (though most systems are like this so can't say its a fault). The pipe is not and covered in rust after one winter, fwiw...

I call bull shit on it being not covered in rust which has been pointed out earlier post isn't actually rust. I will try taking a pic that shows it well over the weekend and post them. I've had it on for about two years now and it does look like the pipes are rusty. I've got no reason to make it up. It is what it is.

I'm not saying that not being happy with their product. I dig how my jeep sounds, but I'm giving my real world experience. I was a little disappointed when it was getting all brown which is not how they show it on any of their pics on their website. I actually bought mine directly for Banks. I called and spoke to the salesman whom I spoke to when I bought it. He said that is normal and they do change color due weather exposure.

That being said the pipe looks like an exhaust pipe.

Banks does make a good product, but do don't expect it stay nice and shiny looking for long sitting outside in the various conditions. I'm just glad I went with the black tip because I think it makes it look a lot better than a the chrome on the end of a brown pipe.
Just my 2 cents.

I did say said mine was covered in rust too. The muffler and tailpipe aren't bad though. I've had Magnaflow and other systems that stayed much cleaner for much longer than this Banks stuff, but the pipe on all seems to be the worst as I said. Re read my post.

Apparently my BBQ paint isn't sticking to my borla muffler but it is the pipes. I just wiped some mud off after reading your posts to look for rust. I was happy. all the brown is mud I didn't wipe off.

Hey, they are all gonna rust. I'm not worried about that. It can't be any worse than my ten year old exhaust system. I'm going to go with the Banks system and be happy. Just met someone with the same system and it sounds good. They have had it for 3 years and are totally happy with it.

Haha ! I'm on a set of 32's now that I've had in storage. They are from 2005 ! Off a truck I had. They are about to die. Chunked out on the rocks around here. Going to 33's.
It never ends ! I'm a BFG guy but think I may go with a set of MT/R's for shits and giggles this time.

I am all about loyalty. The mtrs earned mine for sure. I ordered them on line from a great place and had Walmart install. The guy asked to keep my old ones and save me a dollar a tire disposal. I like recycling. Thought it was cool. They wouldn't call me and tell me it was done because he wouldn't print the receipt with the disposal charge lol. I just showed up and he was jones ing to ask for my old mtrs.

Ready to get my exhaust project going. Any misc. things I should get to do the System? The only thing I'm not wanting to replace at this point is the Cat itself. Any suggestions from those who have done this would help.
Thanks

My borla came with new bolts that allowed me to grind/cut the old ones off with my makita angle grinder. That was only issue I had. If I didn't have a grinder it would have been hell. With it easy. Any bolts will work if you need to buy them. Just plain bolts.
