Battery Guage Flutters

My 05 Wrangler X battery gauge flutters right below the halfway line and back to the line. Is this something I should look into? Any advice on what it could mean? Alternator?

I just bought this Jeep a few weeks ago....

Keep it simple at first... try cleaning off your battery cables. If that doesn't work, have the battery tested. If those two things don't solve the problem, then it might be the alternator...

I'm not much of a car knowledge guy, trying to learn as I go with my new Jeep. How would I go about cleaning the cables?

any auto parts house will have commercially available battery terminal cleaner. (uaually a spray foam) I prefer using coke or pepsi. pour it on wait a minute and rinse it off. If the terminals are very corroded then take them off, clean with coke, scrape with wire brush and reinstall.
