Exclamation BIIIIG problem guys, hope you can help

00 TJ 5spd. 96000ish miles

today on my way home from class, my airbag light came on for about fifteen-twenty seconds, it shut off so i let it go, i figured it was just a hiccup or something. i drove a little over a mile down the road and went into a store. got out of the store and back onto the main road. the airbag light came on twice more, next thing i notice is that my tach and speedometer are froze in place. the check engine light came on, and the odometer read "NO BUS" the tach and speedometer went all the way to zero for about 5 seconds then went back to normal. this happened twice in a row(within 2 minutes)

for the rest of the drive home(15-20 miles) it was completely fine.

im thinking a computer problem? this is the first time it has happened, and hopefullly the last.

is something actually wrong?
is this notorious?

i figured i couldnt really take it to a shop cause it is intermittent.
with my luck theyd check it out, no codes would come out of it, and theyd charge me out the ass.

any help or advice you guys have would be awesome

thanks a lot guys!!!

Try checking to see if any fuses are loose behind the glove box. If the air bag fuse is making half contact then that could be part of your problem.

Would the airbag clock spring have anything to do with this perhaps? I know they go bad but not sure what happens when they do.

Check behind the gauge cluster, it common for the plug to come loose from it. It just needs to be pushed back in firmly.
Just getting to work is an adventure.

The only time I've ever had electronics go in and out like that, especially the freezing gauges, it was due to the alternator. I don't know if that's the case here, but it was for my Dodge some 15 years ago.

This has been discussed on here before, I have a 00 TJ also and it did the same thing. I was going to do what I had read about which was take the plugs out of the instrument cluster and clean and spray them with di-electric grease and that should fix the issue but it hasn't done it again and I keep forgetting about doing it until someone brings it up but no worries it is a simple fix
