It was a switch.
I was also able to duplicate my no power problem.
the plug on the right side with 3 wires (I guess) goes to the relay. when it is not plugged in I don't get power or ground.. While bending the thing all around to hit it with the test light and meter I guess the plug came a little loose. I was successfully able to jumper from green to the other wires and get different fan speeds.
I hear you on all speeds going out being very strange. even more strange, I took the switch apart and it didn't look that bad, cleaned it up, put it back together and still didn't work. I recently replaced the knob on that switch, I probably bent stuff up inside there pushing the knob on too hard.. I had a problem putting the new knob on in the dark. had to get a flashlight before I noticed the metal sleeve from the old knob was still on the shaft..
