So i picked up a Tj front cage kit and found out it wasnt a bolt in like i wanted. It is a weld job. a Bit past my means....
Where are some places i can look for a bolt in set up?

RockHard4x4 has a nice bolt-in kit. It's the one I have and so far it seems like it would do its job if needed.

Just make sure you have a ton of patience and and don't tighten anything until it's all in!

Thats more like what i want. The whole thing is a bit more then i am looking for. The Tj isnt going to be where it would roll. Just like the extra security if for some reason there was an accident or something.
Dont need the windshield bar, supports for the main cross member bar. Things like that...
But i want something i dont have to cut my dash open to install

This is what i got. I like it other then the cutting into the dash... Or having to friggin take everything out of my jeep. Big project for something without a garage at home.

A cage isn't something I would cut corners on. Actually doing a bolt-in cage in the first place is cutting some corners in itself. If you're going to do a bolt-in then get the best cage you can get and get all of the pieces. After doing a ton of research on bolt-in cages the RockHard came highly recommended and even had some visual proof of how it held up in some rollovers.

If you really want to do it right then take a look at the Genright products or the Poly Performance weld-in kits. They're very well thought out and should serve every purpose you would ever need.

Scout,
If this was going to be on anything but pavement then i would go all out. But this is more of a precation then anything. Just added security for the wife and kids. She doesnt feel ok with the top off for some reason.
The scrambler is the trail rig and its cage is a spider web of metal.

I understand what you're saying. I guess I wasn't clear about what I was saying. What I'm saying is; if it's safe for the trail then it should be just as safe on the road. Rolling a Jeep, tipping it over or smacking a tree is the same type of impact you'd take in a collision on pavement. If the cage performs well offroad then it should provide the same type of protection on road.

The ORFab Cage you posted is nothing more than extensions to the roll cage. It would offer no support in any type of collision.

Scout i understood ya and agree 100%
But it just isnt in the finacial cards for something like that. Plus its more of just a smoke screen to keep the wife happy...lol
Other then her fear of a bus hitting us this is just to keep her happy.. and everyone knows.. if momma aint happy.. nobody is

Alive is happy.

Honestly I don't see how you can improve much by going with the ORFab other than aesthetics.

that particular add on cage is mostly asthetic. you can however have or build a quality cage that adds on to the existing cage. its all about mounting points, and bringing points together. although, i would only go with a weld in kit.

well since she doesnt get on here and read what i say i can talk free...lol
She whines and thinks that for some reason that we are going to roll over driving to the park or something and we will all be crushed flat...

So there is no "real" reason to even have it other then to be able to look over and see her DD's in a tank top in my jeep with the top off... OH and to see and hear my kids having fun too..lol

If it wasnt for her whinning i wouldnt even bother getting anything like this.

I know her exact reply... well my car has a top and that would save us. Plus your jeep is so far off the ground compared to my car. We would roll over in my car.
