Brake light flashing and gong

I parked my 2005 X in the garage and left it for a month. I started it and the brake dash light is lit and the gong won't stop gonging. T tried fooling with the emergency brake which I never use no help. Drove forward and in reverse no help. It rolls easy so I don't think I have a problem. Any Ideas?

Duct tape the light, pull the fuse, and pretend it never happened.

did you check under the boot to see if the sensor is contacting metal/fell out of place.

The BRAKE light on the dash is not only for the emgergency brake, it indicates system faults. If it is flashing, there is something wrong

True but why not check the simple first then move on to actually investigating... Just saying. same thing was happening to me and just turned out to be that.

How do I pull the boot off? My 01 TJ has an emergency brake issue I need to figure out. If I set anything on top of the boot in between the seats, my emergency brake light lights up and it beeps. Or do I need to climb under the Jeep for that? I was thinking maybe it's a loose line or something?
