Last night I took the tj on the beach and when I hosed it off after I noticed a large amount of fluorescent yellow fluid dripping of the muffler. I had a buddy with me and we both agreed it literally looked like someone was pouring a bottle of yellow Gatorade out of the rear most point of the muffler. Any idea what this could be? Completely odorless fluid. I've been checking for leaks everywhere and I don't see anything now. Fluid levels all seem good
One of my buddies said that he had heard that one catalytic converter's go bad this is a warning sign. I haven't heard this prior to him saying it but I thought it sounded a little suspicious.
And to follow-up with what WILLYSDAVE said, antifreeze could seem nearly odorless if it's cool, it might not have much scent. I'd be nervous if you have antifreeze coming off the muffler, I'd be pulling spark plugs to check for liquid in a cylinder. That could be an indication of a head gasket giving up, if antifreeze is making it into the exhaust.
It wasn't submerged but I did hose it down reaaaaally good after so it's possible there was water in the muffler. And the antifreeze overflow cylinder is still full. Is there any validity to my buddy's catalytic converter theory? I did have an omissions light on and off for the past three months which would fit with that description so I'm just not sure
Also I will add the car was on as I was hosing it down. There has not been any leaks since this instance two days ago I've been checking every time I walk up to the car. I don't know if it gives any more hints
Oil is Black
Break Fluid is Red
Transmission is Red
Washer Fluid is Blue
Coolant is Yellow
That's all there is. Sounds like Coolant.
Maybe you ran over a jelly fish laying on the beach and it splashed up on to the muffler?
If you had a blown head gasket or a crack, it wouldn't show up like your Jeep took a leak on the ground. It would likely be in the form of a little white smoke while you are driving. It could also be that Jellyfish though.
