Broken Bolt Help!

Alright so I picked up some Black Manik side step bars for my 06 last night and installed them. They look awesome but the 2 bolts on the driverside where the front brackets mount to the frame were a little tricky. The inside bolt stripped the end threads and I couldn't catch the threads to get her started so I picked up longer bolts and halfway in the damn thing snapped. So I figure at some point I will have to drill it out but I don't think I will be able to use that bolt hole to help mount so it will basically be mounted with 1 bolt. It seems stiff and strong but what I want to know is will it be strong enuff to hold some weight? Any1 with experience with these steps thanks in advance for your input.

you could could probably tap the hole you drill out when you get the bolt out so that you can have tow bolts.

What do "tow" bolts have to do with side step bars?? Aren't "tow" bolts usually on the front and rear?? Are they on the side in case you need to move the Jeep sideways??

I'd have to agree with Manolito and 03 RUBI. Although what gilg2533 is referring to is that debruins mispelled it and meant "two" bolts...not "tow" bolts.

in response to adawg i've been in your position a few times, not necessarily with side step bars though. I've had to drill them out then use a bolt with a washer and nut on the other side. So the hole won't have threads but it will do if you make the best of it.

So.... I was supposed to read his mind so I'd know what he meant to spell. I guess rereading what he actually wrote would have been to much work?

ok ladies lets grow up.

As to the OP....I dont have any experience w/ this particular setup, but I would probably hesitate to leave it with one bolt. If you havent tried it yet, sometimes you can get it with a broken bolt extractor, and they usually arent too expensive. That said, theyve been hit or miss in my experience. Worst case scenario, drill a new hole or drill the bolt out.
