I am looking into putting a 2 or 3 inch budget boost on my jeep. I'm wondering if I need to change anything else. Like shocks, sway bar links, etc. anything like that? I'm guessing that since you are lifting it, you may need some parts to be longer. Is this the case?
Also, is there a difference in ride after? My jeep rides and handles fairly well right now. Will this affect anything?
I installed a 2" BB which came with new shocks and rear bump stops. The ride is the same or a little better because of the new shocks. The springs are the same so much of the ride is affected by the springs which are re-used.
x2. When I bought my jeep it had a 2" budget boost on it. Everything else was stock. The noticeable aftermarket items were shocks and front and rear aluminum bump stop extensions.
If you can swing the difference in cost, a true SL that include new longer coils/shocks/bumpstops is the way to go for better ride and off road performance. For every inch of lift you decide on with the BB lift, you will need the same amount in extension on the bumpstops to prevent coil bind and damage to your stock springs. Longer shocks are needed and I would also suggest longer swaybar end links since it probably wouldn't take much time for the stock ones to wear out due to the stress from the increase height and angle.
