Cannot figure out wiring harness in center console

I know this is supposed to be really easy but for the life of me I CANNOT get the wiring harness to come apart that is connected to the sub in the center console.

I know you are supposed to stick a screwdriver somewhere in there and it is supposed to come apart but it is just not happening!

What am I doing wrong here?

I am afraid I am going to rip these wires the way I am going at it now...

or you may need to squeeze the ends or sides.

Easiest way to do it was to take a pair of needle nose pliers and just push the clip in instead of messing around with a screw driver. Came to me right as I laid down to sleep last night.

are you replacing your subwoofer? If you are, be sure you test the connection to the speaker to make sure you have hooked up the correct wires before you reinstall. I used the write-up I found on here, but the wiring configuration I used was totally different than the write-up. I've talked to a few people who said the same thing. It's not hard by any means, but it will save you some frustration if you get everything buttoned up and don't get any sound.
