Can't get Driver side door unlocked...

Ok, so I finally got around to putting the doors and the top back on and now my lock is broken. I tried pulling the little lever up inside the door and it's jammed. I think it's the black round plastic door claspy thinging (I know.. technical aren't I?) anyone else have a problem with this? it's like it's come seperated from the mechanism itself. I can't figure out how to move it to at least get the door open. Any ideas?

You might have to take the door panel off the door. Inspect the linkage for the door handle. Sounds almost like the door is misaligned or the linkage inside jammed somehow.

Before you take the door panel off smack the panel a few times in the upper right corner. It seems like it only sticks if it's locked from the outside, so lock it from the inside.

If it does it a lot you might want to take the door panel off and use some lithium grease, but try this first, it's a lot easier to get the door panel off with the door open or off.

i have had the same issue and found out that locking it from the outside caused it to do that most of the time. i usually give the lock a good push to make sure it is locked good. what i do is open the window and hold the lock in the locked position and pull the door handle a few times and then try to unlock with the key from the outside. some times it just needs to be jarred around a bit.

Don't feel bad it take me 10 minutes just to unlock mine with the key from the outside.I have to flip the key over and wiggle and jiggle and finally right about the time I am getting ready to give up it unlocks. Then again the key doesn't lock or unlock the tailgate at all so I figure the switch has been changed and the key is really not the one that came with the Jeep but happens to finally work the mechanism enough to unlock it.Kind of like the time I locked the keys in my truck and a lock smith unlocked my S-10 with his own Chevy truck key.He happened to be parked beside me on WalMart lot while I was tiring to figure out how I was going to get in it.He put his key in and wiggled it a few times and bamb it unlocked.Anyway sorry I am no help on the switch being lodged never had that before.
I like for it to shine even thought it is muddy most of the time!
