Question Can't get switch to work! Help Plz...

I installed a ford taurus fan with temp sensor & 40 Amp relay from a kit I got fron AA. It works with the power cable and wire used for ignition both hooked to the battery. I put a switch in and it has power but fan WILL NOT come on with the "ignition" wire going to switch. I've tried every prong on switch but it is still mocking me. Anybody got any ideas?
