Im sure everyone around here is pro active environment tree hugger but i cut the cats off mine and welded in a staight pipe, and made a custom exit out the rear. With a flowmaster super 40 the power gain is extremely noticable and sounds like a v-8 when i power down on it. Just another option. Some jeeps have an O2 sensor behind the cat and removing the cat will actually cause your check engine light to come on, but all 4 o2 sensors on mine are at the precats after the manifold. Ide check that out before considering a setup like mine. But if your gung ho on the cat they make some nice hi flow aftermarket i hear.

hi flow cat sounds good but i wouldn't count on it giving you a very different sound. the muffler will be what gives it a different sound

Be sure to check to make sure what ever cat you get is approved. And to remove it is a major violation of Federal law.

If you build your jeep so big and bad that it's really easy to get threw everything out there, then your going to get bored.

Sadly enough, there are a lot of places in the country that don't have yearl inspections or emissions testing. So people can run vehicles however they want, but I donno what its like in his area.

And I feel bad for anyone that has yearly vehicle inspections, sorry

Yeah. like the people in Cali, don't even THINK about exhaust mods or they'll throw you in prison! I let THAT state for a reason.

The back-pressure you get from the cats increases torque, if you open it too much it becomes detrimental. But headers hi-flow cats, and a nice muffler should increase power.

As far as flowmasters; they are a chambered muffler and I don't about Jeeps, but in my Cobra I blew them out. Not a big fan anymore. I ended up w/ magnaflow.

there are various jeep catalytic converter that you can choose from.. it would merely depend on your choice and the budget you wanna spend.. there is borla, magnaflow, flowmaster, etc.. anyways, I had a magnaflow installed on one of my ride - works great and no prob with it.. good luck just get the one which you think good for your car.

No inspections in Michigan either. My cat is gone and I have a Magnaflow. It sounds good and I deff. noticed a little more kick to it. I did a side exit before the rear tires too, keeps it away from gettin hit by my rear axle at full flex.
