My check engine light came on last thursday, and i went to a mechanic and he told me it was a bad reading from my catalytic converter. He cleared the check engine light, and told me if it happens again come back. It came back on today, and i was wondering what could be wrong. Has anyone had this problem before, could if be just a simple O2 sensor? Any help would be appreciated.
Your profile says your jeep is an 05. If you got under 80k you are still under the emmssions warrenty. If you do have a bad cat they are expensive because its a whole y pipe assembly with 3 cats.
Its a federal law they have to fix it under warranty. 1 thing they will do is replace the 02 sensor to see if that fixes it. They might charge you for that. But when that doesn't work they will have to replace the cats for free.
0431 is the rear pre-cat, lower o2 sensor. The sensor might be bad, but its most likely the pre-cat that is toasted.
Alright thank you guys, looks like im stopping by a dealership sometime soon. Is it alright to drive without this being fixed for a little while, as i have been seeing that the cat takes forever to come in.
someone has a picture of the whole catalytic system? from manifold to exhaust? I think i need to replace my cat and i would like to know what do i need to replace.
Check the date your Jeep was originally sold also known as it's In Service date. Your very close, if it was sold before June 25th 2005 your out on time if it's still in get it taken care of under warranty ASAP!
