Catalytic converter .....Rattling.....

I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0.......... Does anyone have a good Idea of the cost of a "California" Legal Catalytic Converter and Labor to have it installed ???
Mine sounds like there is a large rock inside rattling around when I start my jeep and turn it off and I'm sure if it dont fix it soon I will probly have other issues ???

I had the same problem on my 94 last year. Bottom line was the the rattle was an indication that the thing was shot. I did the cat and a flowmaster installed at a quality shop for $400 out the door.

$360 ouch! Just for the cat? Here I thought the SF Bay Area prices were high.

Bought a magnaflow on ebay and the local midas said 65 to install. Sure it would be more if they sourced the part

Do not go cheap on the cat. Many shops have the crappy cheap ones in stock that die in about half a year.
