Catalytic Converter rattling on skid plate

Hi everyone. Is there anyway I can wedge something between the skid plate and the bottom of the converter. I only notice the rattling when I am at the drive thru or when I crank my steering wheel .

It shouldn't be hanging down that far. There is an exhaust mount that goes from the cat to the transfer case....maybe check the rubber bushing or see if the bracket off the cat is bent.

How many miles on your Jeep? It's possibly a bad catalytic converter, like person said above there is a mount thats suppose to hold up your cat, so check that first. If thats fine then kick the area near your catalytic converter and see if theres an rattling inside. Also if you hear a rattle under low RPMS during acceleration that can be a sign of a bad cat. But as you described you hear it when idling and thats a sign of a bad cat. Just stick your head underneath an peak behind the skid plate and you should see the bracket thats holding up the catalytic converter

considering the cat operate around 600°F, don't wedge anything that will melt or catch fire...

or just find the problem with the hanger or hanger bushings that you probably have.

Thanks. I am going to look I the morning and report back with pics. I did see a bracket so I will check that out. The rattling seems to be a little more noticeable when she warms up so might be rubber bushing gettin soft with the heat.

Mine was acting just like yours and mine rattled when the engine was turned off as it was shutting down. I thought it was the heatshield on the cat rattling but it turned out that the cat had broken apart inside. Replaced the cat and all good now and seems to have more power.
