CE light

My jeep recently failed emissions because it had some codes, but the CE light is not on. It doesn't light up when you first turn the key. Is it just a bulb or is there some other reason it doesn't work?

Huh that's good to know didn't know it would do that, but anyway if ur light doesn't come on at all even when u first turn the switch on then most likely ur bulb is blown, u can take it to any autozone and they will check the code for free but u will prolly have to replace the bulb before they will pass it because the light has to come on and go off before they will pass it usually

I have a 2000. The key trick doesn't work. I've been trying to figure out what bulb is the replacement without having to actually take the gauge cluster off and look at it.

Guage cluster comes out really easy. And the light bulb comes out very easy as well. Simple and fast fix. Must have a lot of issues to have your light on long enough to burn it out lol.

Previous owner could have removed it before selling just so they wouldn't have to fix the problem.

Have seen this on several Jeeps that popped codes for bad cats because if you don't do it your self it can be costly...

No, im the second owner and i bought it from a friend. it was on for a long time. The p0420 code has plagued me for the better part of two years now. It's stupid because in CT they only hook up to a comp so the CE is an automatic fail. If they did the tailpipe test I bet it would pass fine.
