Check Engine Light

A little while back my check engine light came on and it was spitting out the gas cap code (can't remember what exactly it was) so I disconnected the battery for a bit. When I started the Jeep back up, the light never came back on. Now when I start it, the light hasn't illuminated once. Shouldn't it light up for a bit when you start her up along with other lights? My ABS light doesn't seem to want to light up either...Hmmmm

All of those lights should come on when you switch the key to the on position. It is a test to make sure that they are functioning properly. Have you tried to pull codes?
