Cherokee motor in a TJ?

I think I might have a 4.0 out of a cherokee in my TJ. I bought it used, so I dont know. Anyone have pictures, or a way I can tell?

What makes you think you have a Cherokee engine?

Well, I have a small oil leak around the filter/oil pressure sensor. I have changed the oil pressure sensor, and that seemed to have fixed it. Two weeks later...leak. So I thought, maybe it is the brass fitting that the sensor screws into has a small crack or something in it. So, I took that out and went to the local dealer, they couldnt find the part in their system for my 97. However, after talking to the parts guys they thought that this set up was common in the cherokee engines. Turns out when looking in the system under 97 cherokee they could find the part. Im still not sure this is correct though. They also alerted me that the leak might be coming from the o rings inside the filter housing. They said it comes out with an allen wrence down the center of the housing that you screw the filter on to. There is no allen bolt that I can see. Any ideas about the engine/oil leak?

Use a long Allen wrench down the center hole to get it. You cannot see it, but it's there.

Then the filter adapter pulls out - the big O ring seals the adapter to the block casting.

Clean off the area with brake cleaner, then you can see the source of the leak.
It's no wonder the country is falling apart - stupidity abounds!
