I put a cherry bomb on mine and it was quite easy. I just welded it.
Sounds pretty good.

Nice man! Thatll be a good present. After a little bit of use on the cherry bomb itll get "broken in" and sound alot meaner.
You installing it yourself?

It'd be no different to install than any other muffler...actually easier. I'd have it welded...shouldn't cost much at all, but clamping can leak if you don't get it clamped tight enough.

The shorter the glasspack, the louder it is...and the more it'll crackle and pop I believe...however, on smaller engines, the shorter they are, the worse they sound. If you want a nice throaty sound, go with a longer one. It'll give you less drone when on the gas and a nice rumble at idle. I'd be interested in hearing sound clips when you got it broken in.

Also keep in mind they do burn out...not sure what their average life expectancy is, but once it burns out, it's gonna sound like crap. lol

I know it takes quite awhile for em to burn out, my cousin has had one on his truck for quite awhile and still sounds mean.

I got one on my YJ 2.5L!! Not by choice but cuz the stock muffler exploded in a creek one day!! Love the sound tho! In videos (wish i could put one up) it sounds like a V8! But the highway noise is looooooouud! Oh, my cat convertor kinda just blew itself out too which gives alot more meanness too it A shop welded mine on for $20.

i like being different... my exhaust shop asked me why i wanted it that way.

  1. getting very tired of the exhaust hitting my receiver,
  2. bent my exhaust and receiver a couple weeks ago,
  3. i want to be different.
ill definitely post pics and vids of the work

On my first TJ (a 2001 Sport automatic), I installed a DynoMax UltraFlo Race "bullet" muffler. On the outside, it looks like a silver colored Cherry Bomb... but on the inside it is superior. The CB uses a louvered core, which means there are "fingers" or ridges which poke into the path of the exhaust flow. The UF does not have louvers, but instead uses a perforated core. The result is even less backpressure.

I went with a 2 1/2" in/out since it was the smallest diameter DynoMax makes in this model. I had an exhaust shop cut out the OEM muffler and weld this one in its place. Due to the stock muffler being a center/offset in/out design, he just welded the muffler in at a slight angle to make it line up. He bent up a couple of short curves to make it easier to install.

I loved it--it sounded butch and was not overly loud in my opinion. I would do this mod again in a heartbeat (and am already planning it for my '98).

These sound like the ones he's talking about. $40 each.

I installed them in my Mustang as resonators. No idea how they'd sound on a Jeep.

Pretty loud by themselves on the Mustang. (I run a set of mufflers behind them)
