chip it?

so i have been looking on craigslist for a hard top and i see a performance chip on there every now and then. im wondering if its worth it? i dont see alot of talk about them on here. anyone have one? what brand?

They're not worth it. By federal EPA law, they are only allowed to do anything differently when you are at wide-open-throttle and extremely high near redline engine rpms. That's not exactly how our Jeeps are driven normally, especially when offroad. Unless you drag race your Jeep, save your $$$.

k that makes sense why no one else talks about them. i never wanted one i just saw the used one by chance and thought maybe its worth it

What kind of "chip" are you even talking about? The $20 ebay resistor type or something that replaces the stock computer "tune" ? I don't recommend doing anything like that with a Jeep especially, I am just curious.

a obd2 programmer like hypertech is just one of the ones i saw.
