chirping noise

Hello all
I want to see if anybody can help me with the source of noise my jeep has. It's a 2005 wrangler rubicon with a 6 speed trans 33,000 miles. The noise comes from the shifter area. I kind of sound like a playing card in bicycle spokes. It only does it when the drivetrain warms up. It appears to be drivetrain related. When I speed up the sound speeds up, when I slow down the sound slows down and stops below about 10 mph. If I peel back the shifter boot it gets louder. If I push in the clutch the sound remains the same. Engine RPM does not affect it. it has been driving me nuts. Thanks for your time. Jack

It's possible that it's driveshaft u-joints. Same thing happened to me very recently, and was very similar to what you posted.
Jack the rear end up and try spinning the wheels to see if you hear the noise coming from the driveshaft.
If not, try it with the front end.
It's a good place to start

Also, if you search the forum for "Angry sparrows" you will see a few threads on this topic that will have a good bit of info.

Do a search for angry sparrows. Sounds like your front driveshaft cv joint is bad or needs grease. I have greased both of my jeeps front cv by dropping the shaft and pushing grease through a straw with air pressure. You have to slip the straw under the rubber boot covering the ball AFTER you fill the straw with grease.
