Cigarette Lighter Replacement

Anyone know where I can get a replacement for mine. I know I can go buy one and wire it in no problem, but I want the size and fit to go right back in the stock spot. I would like to get one from another jeep that will plug right in via the existing clip. The front black ring on mine is broken and if you pull something out of it the whole thing comes out. Please no DA remarks about how simple wiring one in would be, I am well capable of doing so. There are not any salvage yards to venture in close to me at all. Thanks

The black ring around my cigarette lighter also snapped off, and it fell inside. Is it easy to pry open the dash and fix it?

I replaced fuse # 5 under the hood because my lighter outlet will not work to charge my phone however, the there still isn't any power to the plug. Is there another fuse that assists in controlling he cigar lighter? Thanks!

There should also be a relay under the dash. When I got my jeep my lighter didn't work and there was a relay in the glove box. Did some investigating and found where to plug back in and lighter now works.

Mine also broke the black ring off, and it gets aggravating trying to pin the tail on the donkey behind the dash.

Idahonetto, thanks for the link

Mine has 2 lighter plugs. Guess jeep really wanted owners to smoke with the ignition on or off.

Those accessories in your lighter socket will destroy it. My original lighter socket started spinning, and the lighter element wouldn't even work anymore. I pulled off my radio console plate and wired in a second lighter from behind, and attached a USB plug and cable to it. My original lighter socket has recovered, and it just sits pretty, and un-bothered, since I don't smoke.

No, that's on the 2nd Gen tj's. Unsure of the change, it want to say the same year the radio bezel changed(03?). I jumped my relay so mine stays hot koeo.

Give me a few minutes, I'll post a pic for those interested. I did it so A) all my crap will keep charging when im in and out. B) so I wouldn't have to retype in my gps coordinates when I stop for gas.(also so it doesn't annoyingly turn on and off and make noises). I've had it like that for almost a year with no problems

Here's the reference pic that I used when doing the mod. It was "borrowed" from a thread here. The relay is right under the drivers side dash(under steering column) I was able to do this without taking anything apart. Just remove the relay
