Red face clattering noise

Hi, i got my 99 wrangler in January this year. Its an automatic, got 80k on it. Im still very much a newbie. Hope you guys can help. When I drove to school during the summer, my wrangler makes a clattering noise, probably about 8-10 miles into the travel. I got the jeep in the winter and there was no problem driving from ny to nj. I drove to school again recently when the weather was in the 80s, and it started to rumble a little by the time i got to school (17 miles) So basically, the more humid the weather, the earlier and louder the rumbling is. I went to two autoshops. One wasn't able to help unless they heard something. and another one i went to when it was clattering, and they said that there was a problem with the transmission. However, they don't fix transmissions, so im a little skeptical on that part. Anyone knows whats going on? Help a chic out please! thanks

When you got it did you do a tranny service?

Doesn't sound good tbh, if you haven't done a service I would check to see if theres any large pieces of metal in the fluid. Wouldn't hurt to do it if you didn't get one done.

so far the only chatter i've hard people talk to here is tranny mount bushing that gets worn out and chatters...

does it chatter constantly or does it chatter when accelerating or decelerating or when turning or how about when you drive it in 4wd? does it still chatter? How about when you put the tranny in neutral does it still chatter? Does the chatter rate increase or decrease w/ the speed?

Thanks for replying.
no, i haven't. guess i need to do that.

it only seems to chatter when its hot out, probably after 6+ miles into travel. it would be okay again when i park it and let it cool down for an hour. it chatters when accelerating, same in 4wd. and the chatter rate increases with speed.
