Clicking Noise when Revving Engine??

Hi all,
I hear a clicking noise when revving the engine in my '05 Wrangler X. It reminds me of the sound as if you were to put your finger on the front of a household fan. A clicking sound as if there is some resistance. The higher I rev, the quicker the clicking sound. any ideas?
Thanks

So it's a loud click? Get out and rev it from under the hood (manually open the throttle body) and see if you can track it down...might be the fan hitting something...I don't recommend sticking your hand in it to see if you can replicate the sound of your finger in a household fan.

Also may be something else on the belt system hitting something as it spins...

Could be a lifter or valve tap or something too...but if it's as loud as what you sound like you're referring to, that could be a serious problem. So look for the easy stuff first...lol
