Clothes hanger-like spring by the defroster vent

Hi all,

Wondering what this is for. Anyone know? There are two eyelets, and looks like a post on each side of the defroster for it to attach. Both mine were off when I popped the trim panel. I found one 10MM nut with attached washer, but the other one seems lost; guess I'll have to go get one.

I'm trying to find out why I still get hot air on the floor no matter where the controls are, and I'm wondering if this is part of the mystery.

Hey man, that is a spring that attaches to the back side of the factory radio to support it. I just replaced mine with a new head unit and had to take this out. It attaches to the center rear of the factory radio with a single screw.

If you have had any Transmission/clutch work done or even a lift that would effect the Shifter height, the "seal" between the interior and exterior of the Jeep may be missing. I know when I did my Clutch, we never replaced that seal, and I constantly have hot air coming in the cab now

Well, that explains why the nuts were off (PO had an aftermarket head set in there).

I don't think it's had a clutch replaced yet, but I'm 100% sure the air is coming out of the ducts, both from a "driveway" test, and because it goes away if I duct tape it. Thanks for the info though. I'll find it eventually.
