clunking noise

I have a 02 inline 6 with 53k on it and I have been getting a clunking noise while braking (clunking speeds up at higher speeds). then it goes away when I left off the brake. also it gives a chirping noise when I push the brake pedal down and let off. I got the brakes checked and everything looks good. any advice or a heads up on what to check? thanks.

Check for slop in the drive shafts, the u-joints specifically.
