I get a clunky sound in the steering box if I turn the steering wheel back and forth quickly sitting still. Sometimes I get it over a washboard road too.

Is there some type of adjustment in the box itself? '99 Wrangler TJ

Thank you for your information in advance.

Check the u-joint at the end of the steering shaft, at the box, to be sure it isn't frozen.
My JK did this recently.

Mine felt more like binding, no power steering. Dealer replaced pump and gear box on mine.

I had to take it to another shop for the easy fix.

There is a bearing on the steering shaft and the frame back where the upper shaft goes through the firewall. If you move the shaft there does it clunk? My guess is the bearing on the frame that stabilizes the shaft has gotten dry/worn out. I just had mine done while putting in a new lower steering shaft. No more clunk.

Did the same to the u-joint on my steering shaft, just cleaned and greased it, and back in service.
