Clutch fluid level

I might be reading into this too deep. I decided to check the clutch master cylinder fluid level today. This is on my 01 wrangler, and the reservoir is black not clear. The cap says fill to step. What is the step? I looked down in the reservior and it looked conveluted. I put the cap back on and looked through my owners manual and Haynes (both worthless) and removed the cap again and the convelutions came out with it! Is this some sort of baffle? I then took my clean finger and put in the reservior along the side feeling for the step, and felt nothing. I'll try to attach photos (low res phone) if that will help. Thanks in advance.

Well tried using the paperclip to attach and no good. Went down to manage attachments and no good. Went to FAQ and typed photos and no good. I guess a little help here too please.

Hmm I think its that little ring around it (outside) about half an inch from the top of the rim.

Thanks for the replies. Triple I'll have to check on that ring on the outside. Also do you know if that rubber cone/baffle is supposed to come out with the cap or stay in the reservoir? Thanks again.

i also read into that too much a while ago before i figured out that if i just filled it up and put that little cone back in the excess would flow out when i screwed the cap back on and it would be right at the step. You might want to try that.
