Clutch - gearbox

Hi guys
The clutch is quite heavy and from standstill when I try to put into 1st gear it doesnt go in easily, I have to really push it. The other way to go into 1st gear easily is to put into 2nd and then into 1st. The same goes for Reverse, I cant get into Reverse, I really have to play around with it first and then go into Reverse. This really sucks.
Ive had the car since 2001 and it has 80.000 miles
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Have you checked the fluid in the clutch master cylinder? Have you ever had the transmission oil changed?

Yes I did change the liquid but the problem persists.
Two mechanics I took the car to said the clutch probably has to be changed with a new one.
What do you thing of this?
