Clutch "knocking?"

When I let my clutch out, between 3/4 of the way out and all of the way out I hear a "knocking" under my right foot (foot on the gas pedal.) It knocks quickly and does it maybe 5-6 knocks. It tends to do it more when I have the wheel turne (right turn after a stop sign) more than having the wheels strait. Do you guys experience this? Is it something I should worry about?

Interesting. Have you checked to make sure you are fully out of 4-wheel drive? Do you notice this if you accelerate quickly? Does it happen at idle?

I'm wondering if your t-case or transmission is vibrating due to engaging the engine (and hence providing torque to the rest of the drivetrain) or if you are having gear or flywheel/clutch slippage.

Its not at all while accelrating quickly. It happens even if I let the clutch out very slowly. It does not do this at idle. Its strictly between 3/4 and fully engaged, and no matter the engine speed. I can put it into gear very smoothly with low engine speed, and it does it the same as if I do it with a higher engine speed. Its making me pretty nervous...

Pretty sure i know what it is. Can you hear it if you hit bumps too? If so its a little shifter boot for the transfer case thats under the jeep. When they wear out they fall off, causing metal on metal -- making that noise. kit i bought cost me $19. Get it at your local jeep dealer. I got my kit just cant get those four bolts on the floor out, they just spin in place. makes me mad lol.

heres a how to

2x.. when i was new to my jeep i had no idea what it was. Went to the dealer to fix it ("under warranty") i ended up paying 1xx$ for an hr of labor and 20 bucks for the part.. What a ripoff. Anyhow that thing is so easy to replace, its not even funny.

Put it in 4wd Hi and try it then.. does it still knock?

i gotta question for you guys. i got my part already and the four bolts are rusted in. well 3 anyways, one comes out. but the others just spin. i might have to take it to a dealer or somethin and have them do it cause all i have are hand tools and simply dont know what to do. Any suggestions what i can try?

which 4 bolts are you talking about?

the 4 bolts inside the cab just on the left of the shifter? (not the few shown in the image but they are left of the shifter under the carpet)

which 4? blue?

yeah those washer thingies are basically a tube with the threads on there and then a washer welded on top of it so what you see on the image is the washer while the tube goes inside the rubber. Grab the washer and unscrew them. Might be easier to just have some 1 help you so you can hold the vice grips.

Why they turn is the rubber thingy either wears down or the metal tab (as you can see on my image) #2 post 8.. brakes off. Simply get them loose then go to the store and buy a nice new screw with few big washers (1-2 on each side) and be done w/ it.

I dont even have those rubber things (blue) on mine.
