Code 42 ASD TJ HELP!

My 97 TJ Sahara will not start. Threw a trouble code 42, ASD automatic shut down relay, shorted or open ended circuit. I have been trouble shooting this for a week. I have replaced... Fuel pump, CPS, Coil, Distributor, Fuel Pump Relay, and ASD Relay. Also have thoroughly checked the complete wiring harness to no avail. Sometimes starts when i let sit over night then switch around relays... runs smooth for a bit then diesels then shuts off. Anybody dealt with this. Should I buy a new wiring harness or CPU.. They are the last things to replace??? Thanks!

May want to check the battery tray temperature sensor. That too can cause ASD to activate.

It is a sensor in the bottom of your battery tray. It senses the temperature of your battery and can activate the ASD if the temp is too high.

When it shuts down, can you tell if the fuel delivery is still working? I'm assuming you try to restart and it just doesn't fire off, can you tell if your fuel pump is still working, or is it in a total shut down mode?

It diesels out then shuts off. It turns over but no spark. check engine light code 42 pops up. I put a new fuel pump in during this trouble shoot and have double checked the connectors and wiring harness. Its so weird because it runs great then bam dead...i checked the fuel rail and it has pressure and fuel.

Did you actually try the battery temp sensor I talked about or just decided to go for the PCM?

The battery temp is a valid check point, don't discount it. The ASD and fuel pump relays are constantly hot. The PCM supplies a ground circuit to engage these relays. Before you replace the PCM, pull the horn relay, trade it with the ASD relay and see if your horn works...same with the fuel pump relay. If you are convinced they are all good, try this.....doesn't always work, but it forces the PCM to accept data from the crank and cam position sensors....run a jumper wire from the ground of the ASD relay to the Fuel pump relay and try it. After it starts and runs a few cycles, you can remove the jumper and it should run. The ground terminal of the relays is this one:
