That's just your engine letting you know how happy it is to be sucking down that ice-cold air!!!

Go back to the stock system. Sell the CAI to a high school kid. Tell him you can't handle all the extra power!

CAI systems don't do anything for the modern TJ 4.0 but make noise and let more dirt in your motor.

I have the same problem. It whistles at start up and goes away after its warmed up. The whistle is very loud.

It came like that from the PO. Should I really just take it out? I have a 2005 X 4.0 6 speed.

What do y'all think?

Take it out, it's not doing anything good or helpful.

Are you sure it is your cai? Google wrangler tj + tea kettle and see if you share any other symptoms.

Its a common problem, along with a vacuum sucking noise, bad filtration & extra dust in the engines....see here: Cold Air Intakes FAQ
