Computer problem

Is it possible for the computer to "take out" the tranny? I had to have a new transmission installed and as soon as they tried it the computer went bad. I was wondering if the computer was bad is there a way it made the first tranny go bad or act like it was toasted?

Not very likely with a '97, the only connection between the computer and transmission is just a wire between it and the transmission's lockup torque converter solenoid. Only on 2003 and newer TJs is the transmission and its transmission controller tightly integrated with the PCM (engine computer).

What is wrong, the engine cranks but doesn't start? Or the engine doesn't even crank?
