Concerning rust?

Hey guys, just bought a 2005 wrangler 4.0 6 sp. I just noticed some rust on the engine block, should I be concerned about this? Or is this pretty normal. I found out after I bought it this used to be a plow jeep, shock mounts look to be in decent shape though. The oil pan is pretty rusty as well but Im having that replaced under warranty.

Here is a picture from underneath.

Welcome! I think you'll find rust on all of then in the north where the snow flies. To fix the rust, a lot of people use POR-15. I just ordered a starter pack to test it out and it was pretty reasonably priced. If you google it, you'll see it's pretty straight foreword but I think you really need to follow the instructions. Good luck.

How do you recommend using the POR-15 product on the engine block? I feel like i would not be able to achieve adequate surface prep without pulling the engine, and I am not experienced enough to do that.

I don't think you should be worried about surface rust on the block at all. I would just let it be and enjoy the Jeep!
