Console sub replacement

I recently blew my center console sub so I got a 6.5 in kicker mid range driver to replace it. The speaker is 4 ohm but the amp is 2 ohm I think and it isn't working but I looked it up before I got it and people said they had done the same mod with no problems. Any ideas on what could be wrong??

It definitely works with the stock setup.

My guess is a wire is not connected somewhere so it's not getting power. I would recheck all the harnesses to make sure they are completely plugged in. And make sure your connections to the speaker are solid.

The stock sub is a non-standard 1-ohm. When you replace it with a standard 4-ohm speaker, the stock amp can only drive it with a 1/4 normal power. It always cracks me up to hear people praise aftermarket subs, they are extremely muffled in the console because of the low power. It is true however, that you will never blow out an aftermarket sub at 1/4 power.

Either replace the speaker with the Quadratec replacement (also 1 ohm) or replace both sub and amp with aftermarket units at the same time.

Check out the new Kicker 6.5" power sports sub matched with one of the mini amps in the power sports line, it was designed for exactly what you are looking for.

Ok thanks everyone. Ill just check all the connections and probably just get an aftermarket amp for it. Hopefully I can get it working!
