Coolant?

So i am running a little low on coolant, and my 01 jeep still has that red stuff that came with it stock. I was just planning on just flushing it and starting over. Do i have to put that special crap back in it or is it alright to use just any antifreeze?
Thanks

Tha manual (and the little advisory tag on the filler bottle) says to use coolant that contains H.O.A.T. It's the most expensive coolant NAPA offers. Mix it 50/50 with distilled water.

To answer your question, No... it's not good to mix your anti-freezes.

When I bought my first jeep 2 months ago, I noticed the coolant was lower than the "add " level, so I went to my local CDJ dealer. I found the coolant type from the user manual but when I told them HOAT, the guy in part dept. seemed lost. Eventually I bought a jar of Mopar coolant--pink/red--and mixed with tap water and filled the container.

I plan to drain and refill it according the manual, at 60 months.

You should be fine. I would not be concerned.

I would say make sure you maintain the same brand whatever you use. Some types of coolants are not comaptible with each other and can actually damage your coolant system. According to the manual, Jeep specifically states to use an A/F that contains HOAT. Some aftermarket suppliers mention compatibility but I have only found one that actually contains HOAT.

If you use tap water and it's chlorinated, I would suggest you let it degass over night to remove the chlorine or buy distilled water from the food store.
