OK I know its stupid, but I see them toward the front and toward the windshield. I got the thing to keep the oak stuff out of the cowling. I had to pull cowl cover to clean it out twice so far and I have only had the jeep less than a year. The cowl scoop is suppose to increase air flow but which way should I put the thing?? Stop laughing and help me out on this.:mooning:

I have the Macs Cold Air intake, for a few reasons, going highlines soon, better protection from water and a tad better throttle response. It has the cowl facing the windshield for multiple reasons, personally I like the look better facing the windshield rather facing forward. The things you read about airflow is for your A/C and Heat, unless of course you have a set up like mine...

Mine has the air intake toward the windshield to keep dust/debris from flying into it while on the road. I hot glued rare earth magnets on all the corners and one in the middle. Inbetween the magnets I put strips of neoprene rubber that are about 1/32 thicker than the magnets. The result is a vent cover that can be easily removed to clean the vent. The rubber keeps the magnets from directly contacting the paint and to prevent the cover from sliding around.

Magnets are an interesting idea. I run the Windstar cowl intake. Last winter while driving through a heavy blizzard, I had one occasion where snow and ice built up on the vent causing the engine to suffocate. After that happened, I have been going back and forth on adding a scoop because of the rare but real possibility of clogging and needing an easy way to clear the vent.

I added the intake cover to limit the amount of water entering the grill opening...had the relatively common issue of water pooling on the passenger floor pan as a result of storm drainage entering the cold air intake up under the cowl. If that's what you're trying to accomplish, you definitely want the opening facing towards the front of the vehicle. If you have a hardtop, it acts as a giant funnel, and sends a huge amount of water down the front winshield during heavy rain (put a running hose on the roof of your rig and watch it happen). With the cover facing the front of the vehicle, it will keep most of this water from running down underneath the cowl.

I really liked the look of it toward windshield BUT when I seen the screw I figured I'd have a mess trying to get the 3M loose to get to the screw if I did need to REclean the cowl area. I got it mainly to keep all the Oak mess from again clogging the drain. I wish mine had magnets instead of 3M sticky. I think it did NOT help with the hvac air. Probably should have put it toward windshield. Oh Well. Next time.
