Crankshaft Position Sensor, I Cant Find It.

Hey All, I need to replace it today, I have the code and all the issues it causes when it goes, I can barely get her started....

I cant find it on the bell housing, I looked at the picture in the book I have( worthless book). Only thing I saw with a wire and bolt, only had one bolt to it, everything i read said it has 2, it was on the drivers side of the housing... I'm not sure what side it supposed to be on or anything anymore, The picture in the book is of a 4 cyl, And a horrible drawing, not a real photo...

My Jeep is a 2002 6cyl Auto Trans.

If anyone has a real Picture that would be great...

Driver's side, up near the very top where the transmission bolts to the engine. The CPS is bolted onto the transmission's bell housing, at around the 11 o'clock position.

It will be the only sensor mounted to the bellhousing, IIRC one bolt two wires. Looking at the engine from the drivers seat it will be about 11:00 where the bellhousing bolts to the engine block. It is common to mistake a CPS bolt for a bellhousing bolt.

The 1 vs. 2 bolt mounting is dependent on what transmission type it is mounted to... an automatic or a manual transmission.

Got It Done!! 5 Minutes My Butt, Getting That Darn Thing Out Is A Pain In The Arse. Ya Know An Extra 2-3 Inches Of Wire Would Help A Lot... It Seems To Be Fixed Now, Only Drove It For 5 Or So Miles.. We'll See Tomorrow On The Way To Work....
