Creaking During Start/Turn

I know the jeeps make noise, but in the last week or so I get a creaking from near the front of the jeep when I take off from a stop and turn. Is this a sign of u joints failing or something else? There is no grinding but sounds like creaking.

Dude I developed the same thing on my JK word for word as u described above. First I thought it was the rock rails. Tightened those, not it. Had a loose swaybar link, not it. Probably nothing critical but it's really annoying. I was going to put some JKU coils on my 2dr next month but I'm going to do it tomorrow and check and re torque everything as I put it back together. Curious if anybody has suggestions.
Started after some hard rock crawling a few weeks ago.

Wierd, I just lubed everything on the Jeep and I don't think anything is lose, will go back and check. Just just seems to creak when the frame torques a bit. The only thing I could think was u joints, but hopfully someone will chime in.

If I can't find the cause, I'll just turn up the stereo, until something falls off.

Make sure all of your lug nuts are tight. A wheel that is just barely loose can sound this way.

Front unit bearing going out can cause this too. Jack the front wheels off the pavement and see if your bearings have play in them, up/down & side/side.

Retorqued the front body mounts and I think that did it. Put on a 1" body lift a while back. Front mounts were a little out of spec.

Thanks all, will check all of these. How does transmission mount go bad?

When you retorqued the body mounts, are you talking about where the body lift points are?

Yes there's 4 mounts on each side of my Jk.
Both the fronts were a little loose. And the rears took a turn or two. I rechecked them 3 months after the BL and seemed fine over the last year, but the jeep took some heavy twisting and hits on the undercarriage last time out and started the creaking.

Well, they are all fine. Sounds like the creaking is coming from the rear wheel hubs. Any ideas. Did I miss lubing something?

The transmission mount is rubber and it will rot and/or tear into 2 pieces. The oil, grease road grime that gets on it eventually makes it rot. Easy to replace and fairly inexpensive.

I have actually narrowed it down to the rear wheels, now not sure what it could be.

I have read here that such creaking can be caused by a bad heim joint at the frame end of an aftermarket track bar. Not loose, but bad, as in you cannot get it to rotate properly when off the bracket, where it is grinding and super stiff. Is your front track bar stock or an aftermarket one?
