D30 and gearing

will the D30 with 3.73's take reverse pinion gears?

I don't think so. Are you talking tj 30 or Xj 30? Which in some is High Pinion, if so then it might take different gears vs a std Low pinion 30..

TJs do not have high pinion 30s (AFAIK). reverse cut gears will not work

You are absolutely correct. Reverse cut gears will not work in a TJ D30. However if you get a hold of an XJ non disconnect D30 then it's a bolt in swap for the hole axle and will give you a bit more strength in the ring gear than a standard TJ D30.
