D30 ARB Diff Cover - Oil Level ?

Hello,

after installing the ARB Diff Cover and changing the oil my diff makes some noises.
First I filled in 2.5 pts. (1.2 liter) like my manual said.
Today i filled in about 0.5 pints more and the noises are nearly gone.
A friend told me that it´s not good for the diff to use it with too much oil.

Could you tell me what´s the right oil level at the dipstick?

In the diff there was cheap SAE90 oil, now I have high-quality 75-w140 oil. Could that cause the noises...?

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the new ARB cover may offer a little more volume. So, if you put the previous spec. amount in there, the level would be a little lower which could explain the noise.

Call ARB and ask them if there is a difference or check the spec sheet.

I generally go by this. If you can stick your finger in the fill hole and feel the fluid then you have enough. Don't fill those covers with the higher plugs up all the way. All it's going to do is start blowing out of your breather.
