Damaged TJ Rear Axle Questions

Hi

I have just bought myself a 2001 TJ 4.0 Sport here in England.

Unfortunately whilst sitting parked up another vehicle glanced the rear wheel and made a bit of a mess! Its fortunately for me, as this is how I bought it from the insurance company for reasonably cheap

There is no frame damage, but the right axle tube is bent like a banana! I have removed the axle, and am currently looking for a replacement

Looking around this forum I beleive the axle is a D44, can someone please confirm this form me

I have checked the tag and its a 3.07

I have had a brief look to see what's available in the UK but have not had much luck at the moment So I am considering other options like re-tubing, but are the tubes available for these axles???

This is the TJ in question outside my shop

Thanks in advance

Cheers Al

Yes, that is a 44. As for re-tubing, I suppose find a shop there that can do it and maybe order the parts from Dynatrac here in the US?

Hi, I will have a look at Dynatrac. I can jig and do the axle myself, but was wondering if of the shelf tubes were available

Wow, that looks like more than a glancing hit. Good luck with the rebuild.

I was hoping I could find someone parting out a TJ here in the UK, even if it meant swapping the diff over. But have not found anything as yet, but have only had the Jeep a few days! But might need that luck getting a replacement.

Yeah im on that one, but I have not seen anything this side of the pond, and the shipping would be killer from the States.

Also at what research I have done/found, the D44 with a 3.07 was fitted to RHD Export Models (Europe & Oz), im not sure if you guys had that combo? I see you had 3.07 but they all seem to be D35's???

Im sure something will come up soon, im just keen to get it all up and running

Axle tubes aren't anything special, it's just DOM.

Small world!

Yeah I have tried all of the above companies as well as ACD without any luck I will just have to hold out a little long until something comes up. I dont even mind if the ratio if wrong as I can swap the CW&P over

Hampshire (Nr Basingstoke), I dont mind travelling though!

I spoke to Tommy @ Just Jeeps today, he has an axle with a damaged crown wheel, but doesn't really want to part with it, but he said ring him again if I get desperate and he may do some sort of deal on it.
