Dana 30 Ring and pinion

I have a Aussie locker in my Dana 30 (stock axles) planning on upgrading the axles soon but should I worry about the ring and pinion being damaged? I do light wheeling and I'm waiting for snow to come

No you will be fine. You will snap shafts or ujoints before you chew up your Ring and pinion as long as they are set up right. What size tires?

Oh yeah you are fine. The Dana 30 is good for up to 35" tires on stock shafts.

Kinda sorta ok being locked with 35" tires, but not on a tough trail. I snapped my front axle's passenger-side axle shaft running 35" tires and a locker. I upgraded my front axle with aftermarket hardened alloy shafts to prevent that from happening again.

If he's happy on 29's I think he doesn't have to worry about running trails where he could snap it.
