Dana 35 Pinion bearings

Replacing the pinion bearings in a Dana 35. What are the chances that the existing shim set-up is going to work okay?

are you just replacing the pinion bearings or are you replacing the carrier bearings as well? if just the pinion bearings, you shouldn't need to mess with the carrier bearing shims. the pinion depth and preload is set by the crush washer, but you should always check your gear tooth pattern with marking compound as a just in case.

Thanks for the response, but pinion depth is set by shims; the crush washer controls bearing preload.

Depends on what they look like.
